Traditional: Film or Paper

Of course we accept artwork supplied on film or paper.  Typical lpi resolutions for screen printing are between 55 lpi and 85 lpi.  Paper printing ranges from 85 lpi to 200 lpi.  For recommended specifications for your job, please call our art department or your representative for details.


File Formats Supported:

We support the following software packages / file formats.  This is an ordered list, with the preferable formats listed at the top and the least desirable formats at the bottom:

*** Please fax us a copy of your artwork after you send the electronic file so we can double-check the integrity of the electronic file.   This is important because sometimes fonts get substituted, graphics get stretched, and other omissions or additions happen for no apparent reason.  We just want to make sure that we produce exactly what your are looking for!!!

These formats natively store images as "outlines", "curves" or "vectors" as opposed to bitmaps (although they can store bitmaps too).   Artwork in outline format is most desirable because it can be manipulated (sized / stretched / cropped) without losing quality.  Bitmaps are less desirable because when we increase the size of a bitmap, or if the bitmap was created (or scanned-in) too small, the edges become jagged and the imprint quality suffers.

* EPS / "GENERIC" encapsulated postscript - fonts converted to curves (paths)
***Files created in Freehand can be saved as 'GENERIC EPS' and sent to us. ***
* Adobe Illustrator 1.1, 3.0 through version CS3 Mac & IBM
* Adobe InDesign CS2 or earlier
* Postscript Printer Image, PRN, PS (Print your job from just about any application to a postscript driver but instead of actually sending the job to the printer, send it to a file and then send us the file. )
* PageMaker 6.0 & 6.5 IBM
* WMF (windows metafile)

* Microsoft Publisher 97
& 2003


BITMAPS:

The following formats primarily store images as "bitmaps".   Bitmaps are less desirable because when we increase the size of a bitmap, or if the bitmap was created (or scanned-in) too small, the edges become jagged and the imprint quality suffers.

PhotoShop 4.0 through CS2
Corel Paint 3 through X4
MacPaint
MacPict
JPEG (This format uses images compression which makes the file look better and download faster to your screen, but rarely looks good on a printed item)
Targa, GIF, PCD, PSD, PCX, CGM
WPG, CMF, EMF, CMX, CPX, CDX, TXT
Word Doc 4,5,6 & 7, 2000, 2003
WordPerfect 4.2, 5.0, 5.1, & 6.0
AmiPro 1.1, 1.2, 2.0 & 3.0
RTF (rich text format)

Other formats supported on a per-job basis.  CALL FIRST!


Electronic Media - Disc,  USB Flash, etc...

We support the following formats:
3.5" 1.44 meg IBM and Mac diskettes
USB Flash Media
CF Flash ROM
CD-ROM - IBM Format
ZIP 100 - IBM & Mac Formatted
All other formats will be accepted on a per-job basis.  CALL FIRST!!!


E-MAIL Artwork

If you decide to e-mail artwork, PLEASE either ZIP compress or Stuffit compress your artwork.  Compressing your artwork greatly decreases problems with email transport programs on the web corrupting your art!  DO NOT make your compressed files self-extracting -- they will not be allowed through our firewall.

*** Note to AOL users:  For some reason, the AOL mail program tends to corrupt some files by either removing characters (at random) or splitting files so they become unusable.  If you are an AOL user, please use either ZIP or Stuffit on your files.  ***
